|
Secretary - Secretary's report distributed (as part of the Newsletter) read and accepted.
Chairperson - Expressed appreciation to the Steering Committee members for their efforts. Reminded the Membership to update their Group Information with General Services and S.E.N.Y. These updated may be faxed to: 212-870-3137. Provided information about the June 22nd, Service Workshop being offered by Queens General Services.
Vice-Treasurer - Reported an error given in figures for Group Contributions - correct figures given. Explained that expenses included one years insurance and $1,000 Meeting Book costs. The latter is to be amortized over 12 months. Chairman asked for confirmation that the $1,000 was the initial payment to the printer for the Meeting Books and that the balance due was $2,200. Chairman also provided the general terms of the settlement with our previous landlord.
In response to a question from the floor, it was confirmed that there will be no Meetings at the new Intergroup Office. Chairmen stressed the importance of finding a location for the upcoming Shareathon.
Office Manager - Provided a brief outline of the efforts to find a Shareathon Location. Indicated that re-painting the Office is not a high priority at this time. Pointed out that the improved accessibility and visibility of the new Office has resulted in an increase in visitors from the street.
Day Phone Coordinator - Appealed for additional volunteers for the 4 hour shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Assured us that the phones are being covered.
From the floor a Member indicated that they were unable to reach the Office over a period of 2 hours. The Office Manager outlined the possible reasons that incoming calls may have contributed to that situation
There was also a question from a Member concerning the Office address. The Office Manager pointed out that an estimated cost given to us, to cover up the name of the old business on the awning, was $775. This amount was considered prohibitive and he is looking into other options.
Night Phone Coordinator - No reported problems.
Institutions - Hank G. explained a recent Court decision and the effect it has had on Meetings at one treatment center.
Jerry O. pointed out that some areas are not well represented at the Delegates Meeting resulting in a lack of current Meeting Books in such areas as The Rockaways, Astoria and Long Island City. In response to a question from the floor, it was confirmed that Meeting Books are mailed to those individuals that request them.
Meeting Book Chairperson - May be able to reduce the number of pages in the next edition of the Meeting Book, as there has been a reduction in the number of Groups from 250 to 227. It is hoped that the Groups that had been meeting at the Intergroup Office will find another place to resume their meetings.
No Old Business
New Business - Jerry O. suggested that Queens Intergroup consider a Share-A-Day featuring a "Big Meeting" with "Old Timers" as speakers. This idea will be taken up by the Steering Committee.
The Chairperson raised the possibility that the By-Laws may need to be amended relative to the number of Delegates required to constitute a quorum. Also the Membership may be asked to consider changes to the titles and responsibilities of those serving as Intergroup Officers. It is hoped that the proposed changes can be included in the next mailing.
Hank G. indicated that he hopes to have definitive information about the Shareathons in time for the aforementioned mailing.
10:38 A.M. - Motion to adjourn, accepted.
